What changedInvestment Monitor reports that TSMC’s July Arizona expansion adds four advanced semiconductor manufacturing facilities, bringing its planned US total to 12 leading-edge semiconductor and packaging facilities.
That Arizona commitment now stands at $265bn, following a further $100bn announced in July. It gives useful scale to the company’s US expansion, while the Texas investment remains a separate proposal under consideration.
TSMC chief executive C C Wei had said the company would probably build four or more additional fabs, referring to both front-end and back-end facilities. The newly reported Arizona details make clear that expansion is already planned there; they do not confirm a Texas site, spending figure or timetable.
