Terms of Use Privacy Policy Contact

Plain questions are welcome. Legal riddles are not compulsory.

Terms of Use

Effective date: 19 July 2026
Version: 0.6

The short version

Be 18 or over. Keep your account secure. Post only what you have the right to post. We pay for the pub; you pay through the rights and promises in these Terms rather than a separate subscription. Public content comes with a broad commercial and AI-use licence. Account and interaction data may support advertising, partnerships and monetisation as the Privacy Policy explains. Private rooms remain private. If that bargain makes you choke on your crisps, do not sign up.

1. The deal between us

These Terms govern your access to and use of WittyWires, including wittywires.com, accounts, blogs, forums, activity, groups, messages, uploads and related features that link to these Terms.

The contract is between you and:

NEBULA DIGITALIS (INT) LIMITED, trading as WittyWires
Address: Nikis, 1, Anthoupoli, 2350, Nicosia, Cyprus
Contact: [email protected]

By creating an account or using the service after being shown these Terms, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not create an account or use account-only features.

Our Privacy Policy explains how we process personal information. Community Rules displayed or linked by the service also apply to the relevant features and form part of these Terms once published.

2. Adults through this door

You must be at least 18 years old to create or use a WittyWires account.

You must be legally capable of entering into this agreement and must not be prohibited by law from using the service.

We may use proportionate age-assurance measures described at signup or when required. We may restrict or close an account if we reasonably believe the age rule is not met or the information provided is false. We will apply the rule consistently and handle related personal information under the Privacy Policy and applicable law.

3. Your account and its keys

You agree to:

  • provide accurate core registration information;
  • maintain a usable, deliverable email address that belongs to you or that you are authorised to use;
  • verify the address when requested;
  • keep credentials and recovery methods secure;
  • tell us promptly if you suspect account compromise;
  • keep account and contact information reasonably current; and
  • take responsibility for activity carried out through your account unless caused by our breach.

Display names and community identities do not always need to be legal names, but you must not impersonate someone, mislead people about an affiliation, or use an identity to commit abuse or fraud.

You may not sell, transfer, lend or trade an account, username, social-login link or access credential without our written permission.

4. Social login

You may be able to create or access an account using Google, Facebook, X or another enabled provider.

Social login is a convenience, not a transfer of your WittyWires account to that provider. The provider's own terms and privacy policy still apply to your use of its service. We receive only the information described in our Privacy Policy and do not receive your provider password.

If a provider does not return a usable email address, you must provide and verify one before registration is complete. If you lose access to the provider account, you remain responsible for keeping a working WittyWires recovery route where available.

5. What is inside the shed

WittyWires provides a community and publishing service. Features may include:

  • public articles and public discussions;
  • limited public previews of selected community directories;
  • member profiles and activity;
  • public, private and hidden groups;
  • direct/private messages;
  • uploads, reactions, reports and notifications;
  • optional AI-assisted previews or writing tools; and
  • automated or character-led community features operating under WittyWires rules.

The parties intend and agree that ordinary WittyWires access is a commercial supply or sale of services for non-cash consideration, not a gift. WittyWires pays for hosting, infrastructure and related services. Instead of paying a separate monetary subscription, you grant the licences and permissions in these Terms, accept the community and account obligations, and provide the other agreed rights and promises. Those reciprocal promises are the price and consideration for this agreement. The bar tab is paid in rights and responsibilities rather than coins sticky with lager.

The commercial bargain is material. If you do not accept it, do not create an account or submit content. The door is not locked from either side. Mandatory statutory rights still apply because even a very good pub cannot overrule Parliament with a chalkboard.

Public reading, account-only actions and private areas have different access rules. Pagination, a direct link or a search result is not a privacy boundary. Content that should be private must be posted to an appropriately private feature.

6. Your content and ownership

"Your Content" means material you submit, upload, post or send through WittyWires, including text, images, files, profile material and messages.

You keep ownership of Your Content. You are responsible for it and must have the rights and permissions needed to submit it.

6.1 Licence for public content

When you deliberately submit content to a public WittyWires area, you grant WittyWires a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, transferable and sublicensable licence to host, store, reproduce, format, edit, adapt, translate, combine, create derivative works from, display, publish, distribute, communicate, index, analyse, promote, advertise, commercialise, monetise, license and otherwise use that content to operate, develop, improve, fund and promote WittyWires, related services and commercial partnerships.

This includes using public content and its public metadata to develop, train, fine-tune, test and evaluate AI and machine-learning systems run by WittyWires, providers or commercial partners. It also allows paid licensing, sponsorship, syndication and other commercial exploitation. You keep ownership, but there is no automatic royalty, dividend or mysterious envelope behind the optics unless we separately agree one in writing.

6.2 Licence for private content

When you submit content to a direct message, private group or hidden group, you grant WittyWires only the non-exclusive rights reasonably needed to transmit, store, secure, back up, display to the intended audience, investigate reports and comply with law.

We do not receive a right to use private content in public marketing merely because it was submitted to WittyWires.

6.3 The commercial use of account and interaction data

The Privacy Policy explains how WittyWires may analyse, profile, personalise, advertise, market, build commercial partnerships and monetise information connected with accounts, public content and service interactions. That may include sharing, licensing, disclosing or selling information where we have a valid lawful basis and have provided any notice or choice the law requires.

Personal information is regulated information, not a sack of potatoes that changes ownership at the door. Accepting these Terms records the commercial bargain and permissions. It does not make mandatory data-protection, consumer or electronic-marketing rights disappear in a puff of pub smoke.

6.4 Duration of licences

The relevant licence continues while the content remains on the service. Rights lawfully exercised before deletion may already have produced publications, adaptations, licensed copies, datasets, statistics, embeddings, trained or evaluated models, or other commercial products. We and existing sublicensees do not have to recall, reverse or untrain those completed uses solely because the source or account is later deleted, unless the law requires it. We will stop new uses of deleted source content when the licence ends, subject to backups, legal records, copies already shared and other lawful retention. The bell cannot be unrung, particularly after somebody has licensed the bell to an algorithm.

We will handle deletion and retained personal information under the Privacy Policy and applicable law.

7. The rules, without ceremonial fog

You must not use WittyWires to create, upload, share, encourage, arrange or facilitate:

  • illegal content or illegal activity;
  • credible threats, harassment, stalking or targeted abuse;
  • hatred or unlawful discrimination against protected groups;
  • sexual exploitation, child sexual abuse material, grooming or any sexualisation of children;
  • terrorist content or support for proscribed organisations;
  • content that encourages suicide, serious self-harm or eating disorders in breach of law or our safety rules;
  • doxing, non-consensual intimate material or disclosure of another person's private/confidential information;
  • impersonation, fraud, scams, deceptive manipulation or credential theft;
  • malware, destructive code, denial-of-service activity or attempts to compromise accounts or systems;
  • spam, unauthorised commercial solicitation or deceptive affiliate promotion;
  • copyright, trade mark, privacy, publicity or other rights infringement;
  • unauthorised scraping, bulk extraction, account creation, access, reverse engineering or circumvention of controls;
  • bots, agents or automated posting without our prior permission and compliance with any bot rules;
  • attempts to evade suspension, moderation or rate limits; or
  • misuse of reports, complaints or appeals through knowingly false, repetitive or abusive submissions.

Context matters. Profanity, disagreement and dark humour are not automatically abuse. Serious harm does not become acceptable because it is phrased as a joke or passed through a goblin. That would be convenient, but the law has met goblins before.

We may maintain more detailed Community Rules and safety guidance. If a detailed rule conflicts with these Terms, these Terms take priority unless the detailed rule gives you greater protection required by law.

8. Public rooms and private cupboards

Public posts may be read without an account, indexed by search engines, quoted, reshared, archived and surfaced by third-party AI or search services. Think before publishing personal or confidential information.

Private messages and private or hidden groups are intended for the permitted audience. You must not bypass access controls or publish another person's private content without permission or another lawful justification.

No system can stop an authorised recipient from taking a screenshot or copying what they can lawfully see. Privacy controls limit WittyWires access and publication. They cannot guarantee another human will behave impeccably.

9. Moderation, safety and the foam ban-hammer

We may use human review and proportionate automated systems to detect spam, abuse, security threats, illegal content and rule breaches. Automated systems may also help prioritise reports, apply rate limits, transform display text or generate bounded community signals.

Depending on severity, context, history and legal duties, we may:

  • warn you or ask for a change;
  • reduce distribution or visibility;
  • label, transform, hide, lock or remove content;
  • restrict features, groups, messages, uploads or automation;
  • suspend or terminate an account;
  • preserve relevant evidence;
  • notify affected people where appropriate; or
  • report or disclose information to authorities where lawful or required.

We may act without advance notice where notice could increase harm, compromise an investigation, defeat a security measure, breach law or expose someone to risk.

Where reasonably possible and safe, we will give a reason for a significant enforcement decision and explain how to request review. You may report content or appeal an eligible decision by contacting [email protected] until a dedicated route is displayed by the service. We may reject abusive, fraudulent or repetitive misuse of those routes.

Nothing in these Terms limits our statutory duties under the Online Safety Act 2023 or other applicable law.

10. Goblins, transformations and automated signals

WittyWires may offer features that reformat or transform user-submitted text for presentation, tone, accessibility, safety or comedy. This may include the Profanity Goblin and related display layers. A transformation does not change who owns the underlying content or excuse content that breaks the rules.

Some community scores, badges, ranking signals or Heat-style features may be calculated automatically. They are product signals, not statements of a person's worth, employment suitability, creditworthiness or legal status. We will not use them as the sole basis for a decision with legal or similarly significant effects.

We may correct, disable or reset automated signals where they are manipulated, technically wrong, unsafe or no longer useful.

11. AI tools are tools, not oracles

Optional AI-assisted features may produce drafts, rewrites, summaries or suggestions. If you choose to use one, you instruct us to process the submitted material and send the information described at the feature and in the Privacy Policy to one or more AI providers selected by WittyWires.

AI output may be inaccurate, offensive, biased, incomplete or unsuitable. You must review it before posting or relying on it. You remain responsible for content you choose to publish.

AI features are not legal, medical, financial, safety-critical or professional advice. Do not submit secrets, credentials or highly sensitive personal information.

We may select, replace, combine, route between or stop using any current or future AI provider at any time. We do not promise continued use of a named provider or model. We may also limit or disable an AI feature for cost, security, quality, provider, legal or operational reasons.

12. Intellectual property and rights complaints

WittyWires, its software, design, branding, original editorial material and service features are protected by intellectual-property law. Except for rights expressly granted by these Terms, we retain our rights.

You may use ordinary service features for their intended purpose. You may not copy, sell, exploit or create a confusingly similar service using protected WittyWires material without permission, except where law permits.

If you believe content infringes your copyright or other rights, send a sufficiently detailed notice to [email protected]. We may request evidence, remove or restrict material, ask the uploader to respond and act against repeat infringement.

13. Third-party services and links

WittyWires may contain links, embeds, social login and optional integrations provided by third parties. We do not control their services, content, availability, security or policies.

A link or integration does not mean we endorse everything provided by the third party. Use third-party services under their own terms and privacy policies.

14. Necessary email and optional sales fog

Creating an account allows us to send messages reasonably necessary to provide and secure the service, including verification, password reset, security, moderation, account, group and directly requested notifications.

WittyWires may use and share your name, email address, other contact details, account relationship, interests and relevant service interactions to select, send or arrange marketing for WittyWires, related businesses, commercial partners and third-party offers when applicable law permits. The Privacy Policy explains the available lawful bases, our commercial supply position, PECR soft opt-in, specific consent where required and the right to object or unsubscribe. Withdrawing marketing permission does not disable essential service messages. The till may be cheeky; it still has to recognise the red stop button.

15. Account restriction, deletion and termination

You may stop using WittyWires and may delete your account through the available settings or request route.

We may restrict, suspend or terminate an account where reasonably necessary because of:

  • a serious or repeated breach of these Terms or Community Rules;
  • illegal activity or content;
  • harm or material risk to users, WittyWires or third parties;
  • account compromise, fraud or security risk;
  • evasion of enforcement;
  • legal or regulatory requirements;
  • prolonged inactivity, after reasonable notice where appropriate; or
  • discontinuation of the service or a feature; or
  • we don't like you.

We will consider proportionality and any review right required by law. Sections that by their nature should survive termination, including ownership, limited surviving licences, liability, dispute and legal-record provisions, continue to apply.

16. Service changes and availability

We may add, change, suspend or remove features. We may perform maintenance and respond to incidents. We do not promise uninterrupted or error-free availability.

For material changes that significantly reduce an existing service, we will give reasonable notice where practical and required. If a paid feature is introduced, separate purchase terms and statutory rights will apply before you buy it.

We may end WittyWires. If we do, we will provide reasonable notice and a practical opportunity to export eligible information where feasible and required by law.

17. Money, contributions and separately priced features

Ordinary WittyWires access currently does not require a separate monetary subscription. The parties nevertheless intend it to be a commercial supply or sale of services for the non-cash consideration described in section 5.

If we introduce a separately priced feature, subscription, contribution or digital product, we will provide the price, billing frequency, renewal, cancellation, delivery, refund and other legally required information before the transaction. These Terms do not remove mandatory consumer rights.

18. Important disclaimers, because humans and software both wobble

WittyWires hosts content created by users and may link to third-party material. We do not endorse or verify every statement, user, link or AI output. You should use your own judgement and report material that appears unlawful or unsafe.

We provide the service with reasonable care and skill. We do not guarantee that every feature will always be available, that every user statement is accurate, or that the service will meet a particular business or professional purpose.

Nothing in these Terms excludes promises or rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

19. Liability

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability for:

  • death or personal injury caused by negligence;
  • fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation;
  • breach of statutory rights that cannot be excluded; or
  • any other liability that law does not allow us to limit or exclude.

If you use WittyWires as a consumer, we are responsible for foreseeable loss or damage caused by our breach of these Terms or failure to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable, caused by events outside our reasonable control, or caused by your breach, misuse or failure to take reasonable security precautions.

WittyWires is primarily for personal and community use. If you use it for business purposes, we are not responsible for lost profits, revenue, business, contracts, anticipated savings, data or business interruption to the extent the law allows.

20. Responsibility for claims

If you use WittyWires in the course of a business, you are responsible for losses and reasonable costs we incur because your business's content or conduct unlawfully infringes another person's rights or materially breaches these Terms, except to the extent caused by us.

We do not impose a broad consumer indemnity.

21. Governing law and courts

These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.

If you are a consumer resident in England or Wales, the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may bring proceedings in your local courts and may have the benefit of mandatory local protections.

Nothing in this section deprives a consumer of mandatory rights that apply in their country of residence.

22. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms to reflect service, safety, legal or operational changes. We will update the version and effective date.

For a material change, we will give reasonable advance notice by email, account notice or another prominent method where practical and required. If you do not accept a material change, you may stop using the service and delete your account before it takes effect.

Changes do not apply retrospectively unless law requires it or the change benefits users without reducing their rights.

23. Ceremonial first-born nonsense

Users do not transfer any child, first-born or otherwise, to WittyWires. Nullus usor infantem, primogenitum vel aliter, ad WittyWires transfert. WittyWires acquires no ownership, custody, guardianship, security interest or right of exchange in any person. Homines non sunt res, merces, pignora nec tesserae potatoriae.

No child may be retained, traded back, tendered, bartered or invoked in connection with a dispute, photograph licence, marketing complaint or legal proceeding. Nulla proles retineri, reddi, permutari aut in lite invocari potest. This section is deliberate absurdity, has no operative legal effect, and creates no consideration, waiver, remedy or enforcement right. Haec clausula iocus manifestus est, non pactum faustianum neque instrumentum iuris.

Please keep your offspring, teach them basic password hygiene, and prevent them from feeding raisins into the server. Liberos vestros custodite; machina uvas passas non desiderat.

A ceremonial rumour further claims that WittyWires accepts legal contact only from someone directly related to a person who died at Pompeii. Fama quoque dicit nos nuntium iuris tantum a consanguineo mortui Pompeiani accipere. This is not a real notice condition. Anyone legally entitled to contact, notify, complain to or bring a claim against us may use the proper route without proving ancient ancestry. Nuntia legitima accipiuntur sine arbore genealogica, toga aut pulvere Vesuviano. If your solicitor is genuinely pre-Pompeii, we will nevertheless offer them a chair and ask several historically urgent questions.

24. The final legal drawer

If a court finds part of these Terms unenforceable, the rest continues to apply. A delay in enforcing a right does not waive it. You may not transfer this agreement without our permission. We may transfer it as part of a genuine reorganisation or sale, provided your mandatory rights are preserved and you receive required notice.

These Terms, the Privacy Policy and incorporated Community Rules form the agreement for the service, unless a feature provides additional terms.

25. Contact and complaints

Worth the scroll

Check the bargain

Terms are boring but important. Check you have not accidentally promised us your first-born child, favourite mug or immortal soul. We have not asked for any of those, but this is where you confirm the actual bargain.
