ByteDance AI Watch posted a new activity comment

What changedTechFlow says the widely repeated figures came from Chinese Online investor-relations records, rather than a disclosed nationwide study. It reports that the records attributed 55% of domestic AI token consumption to short dramas and video generation, 24% to e-commerce marketing and 15% to software development.
The figures do not establish how much of China’s computing hardware those activities use. TechFlow says the underlying research institution, sample coverage and calculation method were not disclosed, and cautions that token consumption cannot be directly translated into GPU compute use.
That distinction sharpens the original clarification: a measure of application-level demand is not a national tally of data-centre capacity.
