What changedIREN has named former Banco Santander chief executive Ángel Corcóstegui as chair of IREN Europe’s board, with Roberto Purcaro appointed executive director for Europe. The company says Purcaro brings more than 25 years of experience in infrastructure, energy transition and digital infrastructure.
IREN says the planned Badajoz campus forms part of a portfolio of more than 5GW of grid-connected power across North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific. It presents that regional spread as a way to serve customers with different data-residency needs.
The company also says Badajoz is designed to work with NVIDIA’s DSX AI Factory Platform and use closed-loop cooling requiring minimal water. Those are design plans, not evidence that the campus is operating or has customers lined up.
