What changedReuters reports that Nvidia, AMD and Broadcom have expressed interest in buying up to $5bn in Meta Class A shares as part of the company’s planned fundraising. That is interest, not a confirmed investment, but it puts chip suppliers on both sides of the AI spending race: selling the hardware and potentially helping finance one of its biggest customers.
Reuters says Meta expects its new non-voting Class C shares to begin trading in the first quarter of 2027, before the separate share-sale programme of up to $60bn begins. Meta has not finalised that programme’s timing or terms.
The reported chipmaker interest adds a fresh wrinkle to a plan that would raise as much as $95bn. If suppliers help fund customers’ AI expansion, it may become harder to tell where independent demand ends and financing support begins.
