What changedUK pentester Jaydip Modhwadia, known as “Killa”, has claimed a $2,000 prize after achieving remote code execution on a challenge server running vulnerable PHP, The Register reports. The challenge was set up to test how difficult PHP2Shell was to exploit against a live target.
The timeline matters: the site initially lacked the PHP endpoint needed for the exploit path. Its creator appears to have added one at about 13:00 UTC on 25 October; Modhwadia achieved remote code execution at 15:47 UTC.
The exploit reportedly bypassed ASLR, but this was a sophisticated, target-specific demonstration, not evidence that AI agents can compromise arbitrary PHP servers at scale. Hudson Rock’s Alon Gal told The Register that the result should not be taken as proof of scalable automated attacks.
