What changedThe computer science claim is a proposed disproof of the Exponential Time Hypothesis, which concerns how quickly algorithms can solve certain problems as their size grows. AI Insider says OpenAI has named Russell Impagliazzo and Ramamohan Paturi of UC San Diego, alongside Ryan Williams of MIT, to lead examination of the result.
The mathematics claim concerns the local smoothing conjecture, which OpenAI says its models proved in every dimension. The company says the work also has consequences for the Kakeya and restriction conjectures.
For the physics work, a group led by David Gross is to examine claimed mathematical existence proofs for quantum field theories, including quantum chromodynamics.
The three claims therefore come with different routes for expert examination, not a single verdict that they have been accepted.
Sources and evidence- OpenAI Opens Three AI Research Claims to Academic Examination – AI Insider: AI Insider reports that OpenAI has arranged distinct examination approaches for three AI-generated research claims, including named reviewers for the computer science and physics work and Lean-checked materials for mathematics and computer science.
