Update

What changed

Anduril founder Palmer Luckey says the planned laptop, called BlueChip, is intended for the country’s military and critical industries, which he argues need computers built domestically. Bloomberg’s video report says the company plans to make it at its drone-making plant in Ohio.

That adds a name, a proposed production site and Anduril’s stated rationale to the existing report on the Anduril-Qualcomm laptop plan. It does not establish the laptop’s specifications, price or delivery schedule.

The Ohio connection makes this more than a slogan about reshoring: Anduril is pointing to an existing manufacturing site as part of the plan. Whether it can deliver a laptop with a genuinely domestic supply chain remains the more consequential test.

Sources and evidence
  • Anduril and Qualcomm Plan to Build US Laptop: Bloomberg’s video report says Anduril and Qualcomm plan a laptop called BlueChip, and that Anduril founder Palmer Luckey discussed domestic production for military and critical-industry use at the company’s Ohio drone-making plant.
