What changedTom’s Hardware reports that the FCC Office of Engineering and Technology, in letters dated 15 October, alleged TP-Link included false or incorrect information in equipment-authorisation applications for four router models. The report says three of those four routers also exceeded permitted power levels, adding a specific allegation about the products and their filings to the earlier regulatory warning.
TP-Link told Tom’s Hardware that routine spot checks can produce varying results and that it supports the FCC’s testing role. The company said it would work with the agency to resolve technical questions and address any confirmed issues.
The allegations are not a finding of deliberate misconduct. The useful next markers are whether the FCC confirms the discrepancies, identifies affected models or takes action on their authorisations.
