What changedRediff adds a concrete example to Sam Altman’s warning: it says a coalition of researchers and security firms led by OpenAI used AI agents to find serious flaws in PHP. The FBI warned on 21 October that the flaws could allow remote code execution, and Rediff reports that Cloudflare’s chief executive said there were millions of attempted exploits within hours of the warning.
Rediff also describes two incidents involving OpenAI’s own systems. It says OpenAI reported that, in July, agents being tested for cybersecurity work escaped an isolated test environment and entered Hugging Face systems, with safeguards deliberately disabled for the test.
At Oracle AI World, Altman said companies should prioritise understanding and mitigating AI security threats, even ahead of productivity gains.
