What changedThe Positron financing comes with a much fuller technical bet than the headline suggested. BigGo Finance reports that the company is pursuing Asimov, an inference ASIC built around commodity LPDDR5X rather than scarce HBM, with configurations ranging from 288GB to 2,304GB of memory and a target power draw of about 400W. Positron says Atlas is already deployed in more than 50 racks at Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. The timetable is still a promise, not a product: Asimov is scheduled for tapeout by the end of 2026, with production expected in the second half of 2027. Its headline performance and efficiency figures remain company claims awaiting independent validation.
Sources and evidence- BigGo Finance report citing company disclosures: Positron AI has raised $875 million at a reported $5 billion valuation, through a $375 million Series C and a Series C-1 of up to $500 million.
