What changedOpenAI’s GPT-6 Astra announcement now has a much more practical shape. The archived page says Astra is available in ChatGPT Work, Codex and the API, with pricing starting at $10 per million input tokens and $50 per million output tokens. Enterprise administrators can control approved websites and desktop apps, uploads and downloads, browsing history and confirmation policies, while API customers may qualify for zero data retention on supported endpoints.
OpenAI also adds a stack of company-reported results: a 25× reduction in Codex turn latency after changing memory allocators, a 20% improvement in long-running proactive-agent pass rates, and stronger results on several internal coding, document and computer-use evaluations. Those are OpenAI’s claims from an archived snapshot, not independent benchmark results, but they make the launch more than a capability slogan. The immediate reader takeaway is that Astra is positioned as a deployable work agent with a price tag and governance knobs, not merely a smarter chat window.
