What changedMicrosoft's school-AI agreement now comes with concrete terms. TradingView reports that Microsoft and two major teachers unions agreed to ten legally enforceable principles: student and educator data will not be used to train Microsoft's AI models, data collection will be limited, families must receive plain-language explanations, AI companions are prohibited and consequential decisions must remain subject to human review. Districts can reportedly add the provisions to Microsoft contracts from November without renegotiating the wider agreements. No adoption figures or enforcement record are available yet, but this turns a broad privacy promise into something districts can put in a contract.
