He is therefore proposing more time for alignment, testing and independent checks without surrendering the US lead in AI. That remains Amodei’s position, not an agreed policy or proof that the proposed safeguards will work. The practical test is whether this balance can produce measurable safety improvements while the frontier keeps moving.
