What changedCNBC adds important financial context to Anthropic’s reported Nasdaq plans. It says the company confidentially filed its prospectus in June and could seek a valuation as high as $2 trillion, after reaching a reported $65 billion in annualised revenue in July.
That makes Dario Amodei’s call to slow frontier-model development more than a philosophical wrinkle. Investors are being asked to price extraordinary growth while Anthropic argues that capability gains should be paced and independently scrutinised. Analysts quoted by CNBC disagree over whether this strengthens the company’s responsible-AI pitch, protects established labs from smaller rivals or simply threatens the growth assumptions supporting the valuation.
The prospectus is not public, and neither the valuation nor October timing is final. The next useful evidence will be the filing, where lofty ambition must eventually meet actual numbers.
Sources and evidence- CNBC: CNBC reports that Anthropic confidentially filed an IPO prospectus in June and has been expected to list as soon as October.
