Update
What changedThere are now prices and a ticking reservation clock for Valve’s Steam Frame. The Shortcut reports that the wearable PC costs $1,059 with 256GB of storage or $1,299 with 1TB, with Half-Life: Alyx included in both packages but no power supply.
Registration is open on Steam until 17 September. Valve will then randomise the queue, with reservation or waitlist emails expected on 18 September and the first purchase invitations likely from 21 September. Applicants reportedly need a Steam account in good standing with a recent purchase, which should make life mildly less delightful for scalpers.
The reported hardware includes dual 2160-by-2160 LCD displays, a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, 16GB of memory, Wi-Fi 7 and eye tracking. Those details make the earlier review’s short-battery-life warning rather more consequential: this is premium-priced computing hardware, not an inexpensive experiment.
