Update
What changedThe reported Glass Imaging acquisition now has a clearer technical shape. TechCrunch, citing The Wall Street Journal, says the Los Altos startup was founded in 2019 by former Apple engineers Ziv Attar and Tom Bishop, who previously worked on Portrait Mode. Glass Imaging had raised about $30 million and uses neural networks to learn each phone’s camera system, improving images from the moment the shutter clicks rather than merely editing them afterwards. OpenAI had not immediately commented. That makes this look like a bet on computational photography as well as a possible route into hardware.
Sources and evidence- TechCrunch: Glass Imaging was founded in 2019 and is based in Los Altos, California.
