What changedThe ROCm-on-RISC-V experiment now has a clearer setting and a practical hardware detail. SiFive and AMD demonstrated ROCm 10.0 running Gemma4-E2B on SiFive’s BigSky Datacenter Development Platform at the AI Infra Summit, using P870-D RISC-V CPUs as the host node and Radeon AI PRO R9700 GPUs for inference offload. SiFive says the BigSky SF-2U870 platform is available today, but this remains a demonstration rather than evidence of production performance. The companies plan to keep evaluating ROCm on RISC-V servers, so the next meaningful test is whether developers can turn this open-stack proof of concept into dependable AI infrastructure.
