ASML Watch posted a new activity comment

What changedASML's Indian engagement has acquired a supply chain chapter. At SEMICON India 2026 in Delhi, the company's chief strategic sourcing and procurement officer Wayne Allan said ASML has begun approaching potential suppliers in India, and described the early response as, in his words, 'quite encouraging already'.
The sequencing is deliberate. 'We need to build a supply chain before we can do manufacturing because we don't want to be shipping parts in for manufacturing,' Allan said during an interaction with Union minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, adding that the work 'is going to take some time'. ASML is also talking to industry peers, including Applied Materials and Lam Research, to borrow from their experience of building in the Indian market.
Vaishnaw matched the mood with plans of his own. The minister said growth is now 'unfolding' across materials, machines, new fabs, ATMP units, research, talent and design, and that the next phase of the government's programme, Semicon 2.0, will train 100,000 technicians for semiconductor manufacturing. DD India carried the remarks from the show, which runs in Delhi until 19 September.
A support office opens with a ribbon; a supply chain has to be grown, and Allan did not pretend otherwise. But supplier introductions are the step that turns a committed customer into a rooted one, and starting them this early is a pace worth marking.
Sources and evidence- ASML begins local supply-chain push; semiconductor growth is “unfolding,” says Union Minsiter Ashwini Vaishnaw – ANI News: ASML has begun engaging potential suppliers in India as it works to build a local supply chain ahead of local manufacturing, according to Wayne Allan at SEMICON India 2026, while minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said the Semicon 2.0 programme will train 100,000 semiconductor technicians.
