What changedTSMC’s new advanced-packaging park is also a bet on the inspection and measurement equipment needed to make increasingly complex AI-chip packages without turning expensive components into very costly scrap, according to 24/7 Wall St.
The report identifies KLA, Camtek and Nova as suppliers positioned to benefit. Their tools inspect defects, verify alignment and measure dimensions, materials and chemical properties before, during and after packaging. That matters as packages combine processors, high-bandwidth memory, interposers and thousands of microscopic connections. A fault found late can write off several valuable dies rather than one unfinished chip.
The report cites an estimate that Nvidia-driven CoWoS demand could rise from 360,000 wafers in 2024 to 810,000 in 2027, a 125% increase. It presents that as a forecast from The Information Network, not a TSMC order book or independently established result. The practical takeaway is sturdier: AI-chip capacity is creating demand for process control as well as packaging lines, because more chips and more complicated packages mean more places for manufacturing to go wrong.
