Update
What changedAMD’s first $1 trillion market value is being backed by more than a lively share-price session. Yahoo Finance reports that the chipmaker posted record second-quarter revenue of $11.5bn, up 50% year on year, with data-centre revenue more than doubling to $6.7bn on demand for EPYC server CPUs and Instinct AI accelerators.
The company has also unveiled its MI450 AI GPUs, sixth-generation EPYC Venice CPUs and Helios rack-scale systems. Yahoo Finance says Microsoft plans to deploy Helios across Azure AI services from the second half of 2026, while Anthropic plans to use up to 2 gigawatts of MI450-based systems from the first half of 2027. AMD has separately committed up to $5bn to Anthropic.
Those announcements give the valuation a more concrete AI-infrastructure story, but they do not make the market’s optimism risk-free. The reports describe projected deployments and future growth, while AMD’s $1 trillion crossing remains a market milestone rather than proof that the valuation will hold. The useful test is whether these products and partnerships become sustained revenue, not whether the stock can briefly wear a very expensive party hat.
Sources and evidence- Why AMD's new $1 trillion valuation makes perfect sense – Yahoo Finance: AMD crossed a $1 trillion market value while reporting strong data-centre growth and announcing AI infrastructure products and major reported partnerships with Microsoft and Anthropic.
