What changedMeta has expanded its Muse AI assistant to Mac, adding access to files, messages, calendars, notes and email within native applications. The rollout comes as Amazon blocks Muse from making purchases on its retail platform, sharpening the fight over which AI agents may act across the web.
The AI Insider reports that Muse users control access on an opt-in basis and must approve sensitive actions. The Mac expansion arrives alongside a wider race among consumer agents, with rivals including Instinct and Poke. Muse and Instinct have also introduced voice-calling features, suggesting these products are competing to become operating layers for everyday digital tasks rather than merely chat windows.
Amazon’s block displays a warning that unauthorised AI-agent access violates its customer terms. The practical result is straightforward: Muse can be given permission to handle parts of a user’s digital life, but Amazon shopping may still fail. The dispute also leaves a larger question hanging over agentic commerce: who decides whether an automated shopper is welcome, and who carries the cost when it gets an order wrong?
