Update

What changed

Rabbit has stopped manufacturing its R1 pocket device as it pivots towards OS3, according to Wired. The company plans to release a dedicated Cyberdeck for “vibe coding” within months, giving the software-first strategy a new piece of hardware rather than abandoning devices altogether.

OS3 can run across Windows, Mac and Linux, and can also be reached through a desktop browser, Telegram and iMessage without an R1. Rabbit says people can link up to five devices and use their preferred AI models through a bring-your-own-key model, with no monthly subscription fee stated in the report.

The system uses Large Action Models and Direct Large Action Models to navigate services from user intent rather than relying on a conventional grid of apps. That makes the pivot more consequential than a routine software update: Rabbit is trying to make the agent the layer that travels between existing screens, while the R1 becomes an older branch of the family tree.

Wired’s account describes Rabbit’s plans and product claims. The practical test now is whether OS3 can turn that flexibility into dependable everyday work, and whether the Cyberdeck offers a compelling reason to buy Rabbit hardware again.
