What changedCognex will fund the proposed acquisition of RealSense with $500 million in cash from its balance sheet, alongside a retention programme and stock units for RealSense employees, according to CTech. The transaction is valued at approximately $600 million.
RealSense chief executive Nadav Orbach said the company’s independence from Intel allowed it to triple its revenue and pursue new partnerships, including one with NVIDIA. Those are company claims reported by CTech, not independently verified financial results.
The extra detail makes the deal more than a headline price attached to a robotics name. It shows Cognex is paying cash for a fast-growing computer-vision business while trying to keep its staff in place, and it gives RealSense’s post-Intel trajectory a clearer commercial explanation. For industrial robotics, the interesting test now is whether Cognex can turn RealSense’s depth sensing and 3D vision into wider factory adoption rather than merely a very expensive integration project.
Sources and evidence- Cognex agrees to acquire robotics and 3D computer vision company RealSense in a ~$600M deal, including $500M in cash; Intel spun off RealSense in July 2025: CTech reports that Cognex has agreed to acquire RealSense for approximately $600 million, including $500 million in cash, with employee retention measures; RealSense says it tripled revenue and formed partnerships including NVIDIA after separating from Intel.
