What changedDario Amodei and Sam Altman used a United Nations Security Council briefing to press for international standards governing advanced AI, turning familiar warnings into a more specific argument about what governments could do next.
CNN reports that Altman called for shared methods to measure AI capabilities, assess risks, test safeguards and preserve meaningful human oversight. He also urged speedy incident reporting and secure channels for governments to share information about emerging threats, so failures can be studied before they become catastrophes.
Amodei proposed narrower international agreements, including a ban on using AI to create biological weapons, alongside evaluation and verification systems and common testing standards.
The proposals remain political positions, not an adopted treaty or binding rule.
