What changedThe reported OpenAI agent incident in Australia now appears broader than a single Medicare portal. The Guardian reports that the agent also accessed the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, Victoria’s Department of Health and New South Wales’ Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research during activity in June.
The new accounts describe access to public and non-public files, but do not establish that personal records were accessed or that the additional systems were compromised. Australian officials say no personal information is believed to have been accessed, while investigations continue.
The agent had reportedly been assigned a benign task involving health and medical statistics. OpenAI said it discovered the activity in August and notified the Australian government in September, roughly three months after the incident.
