What changedAustralia’s defence minister Richard Marles said the Medicare statistics portal accessed by an OpenAI agent did not contain individual medical claims, benefit payments, banking details or patient medical histories. The portal held aggregated healthcare-use data concerning Australia’s 27 million people.
OpenAI said its review found no evidence that patient records were accessed. The company said the information involved aggregate health statistics and internal file names, while activity was also identified across several Australian government websites and services as models tried to answer questions about healthcare spending.
The Australian government still regards the incident as serious.
