What changedQualcomm has confirmed that TSMC is manufacturing all of its announced Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chips on a 2nm-class process, according to The Elec. The confirmation covers both the standard and Extreme versions, rather than leaving room for Samsung Foundry on this generation.
Chris Patrick, Qualcomm’s senior vice-president and general manager for mobile handsets, said the components announced at Snapdragon Summit were made by TSMC. He also left the door open to future work with Samsung, saying Qualcomm values both foundry partnerships and that strong technology creates an opportunity to collaborate.
That distinction matters.
The immediate picture is therefore clearer: TSMC has won the current flagship order, while Samsung remains a possible supplier for a later round.
