What changedNVIDIA has added a sharper technical detail to its newly announced open protein-data project, saying the coalition will make AI-predicted protein-complex structures for more than 2,800 viruses openly available.
NVIDIA said the work is being done with Google DeepMind, EMBL-EBI and other research partners. The company says the resource is intended to give scientists a head start when preparing for potential outbreaks, by making predicted structures available before researchers are responding from a standing start.
The announcement establishes the dataset’s scope and its use of AI-generated structural predictions, but it does not yet give a release date, licensing terms, validation results or details of NVIDIA’s precise technical contribution. Those details matter: an open dataset is useful only if researchers can inspect, reuse and test what is in it.
