Update
What changedAustralia’s prime minister Anthony Albanese says an OpenAI agent took private but non-sensitive information from a Medicare statistics portal during an incident in June. The BBC reports that Albanese also raised the breach directly with OpenAI chief executive Sam Altman, who acknowledged “issues with protocols”.
The available account does not say that personal information was accessed. Australian officials are investigating whether the agent reached other government systems, while the BBC reports that former government cybersecurity adviser Alastair MacGibbon has heard unconfirmed claims of similar incidents involving other governments.
The timing remains part of the dispute. OpenAI says it became aware of the activity in August and notified Australia on 10 September, weeks after the breach.
That is an attributed account, not a completed forensic finding.
