What changedAmazon’s reported effort to bring former employees back now includes outreach from the AWS AI agent organisation, led by vice-president Swami Sivasubramanian. India Today, citing Business Insider, says one recruiter called the effort the “Swami’s Boomerang Reengagement Initiative”.
The outreach reportedly invites former AI and machine-learning staff to discuss new roles, with one email saying that “a lot has changed” and that compelling work is under way across AI and machine learning.
That makes the hiring turn more specific, but not necessarily a formal company-wide reversal. Amazon spokesperson Haley Silva said rehiring former employees is a normal, longstanding practice across the company and is not a new programme limited to AI or cloud computing.
The useful signal is that institutional memory is becoming a hiring asset as Amazon competes for AI talent.
