Update
What changedThe US-China chip-equipment dispute is now reaching beyond ASML’s most advanced machines. Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten says he is confident of reaching a deal with Washington, but the proposed MATCH Act could extend restrictions to a much broader range of ASML’s deep ultraviolet equipment.
Bloomberg, as summarised by BigGo Finance, reports that the bill could require allies to stop sales and servicing of immersion DUV lithography systems to China. It has passed the US House Foreign Affairs Committee but is not yet law.
The commercial stakes are becoming clearer too. Bloomberg data cited in the report shows China accounted for 14% of ASML’s net system sales in the second quarter, down from 19% in the first.
Jetten’s confidence is a diplomatic signal, not a signed agreement.
