Update

What changed

Microsoft has added three enterprise-facing pieces to its redesigned Copilot: deeper business context through Fabric IQ, a plugin registry and FinOps controls for tracking AI spending. The additions give the super app a more operational shape, beyond its Home, Code and Autopilot tabs.

The company says Fabric IQ will connect Copilot to business data, while the plugin registry is intended to organise extensions. FinOps for AI will manage usage-based billing for advanced coding and agent features.

The update strengthens Microsoft’s bet on merging consumer and workplace Copilot into one enterprise-focused product. It also makes the commercial question harder to ignore: whether organisations will pay for persistent agents depends not only on what they can do, but on whether administrators can see, govern and limit the resulting spend.
