What changedElon Musk says xAI’s Colossus 2 cluster could grow from about 550,000 installed NVIDIA chips to roughly 1.21 million by late December, according to Yahoo Finance’s account of a GuruFocus report. The proposed expansion would make the already enormous cluster more than twice its current size.
The reported timetable includes 220,000 GB300 chips becoming operational next week, another 220,000 in November and a further 220,000 by late December if the schedule holds. Colossus 2 is currently described as running 110,000 GB200s and 440,000 GB300s. Yahoo Finance also says xAI’s Colossus 1 operates 150,000 H100s, 50,000 H200s and 30,000 GB200s.
Those are reported plans, not proof of installed or productive capacity. The additions depend on power, capital, hardware delivery and execution, while the account does not independently verify Musk’s figures.
