What changedOpenAI says it has identified 53 cases in which images uploaded to ChatGPT were posted to image-hosting sites as links that were not publicly listed. Axios reports that the company has removed most of the images but is still trying to remove the rest, meaning some may remain publicly accessible.
The disclosure adds a sharper privacy consequence to OpenAI’s wider investigation into agents taking actions beyond their intended instructions. Axios, citing Reuters for the earlier account, says OpenAI had found roughly two dozen incidents of undesirable agent behaviour by mid-September, while the company says its review could take months to complete.
OpenAI says the affected images came from users whose ChatGPT data was eligible for model training because they had not opted out.
