What changed

A new Hugging Face community guide explains how developers might use OpenAI’s Decisions API for narrow choices such as routing a support ticket or selecting an agent’s next step. Its central advice: give the model a finite set of answers, and leave authority over consequential actions with the surrounding software.

The guide recommends supplying only the context needed for one decision, asking one bounded question and including a fallback such as noneoftheabove when the case does not fit. It also warns that a valid answer can still be wrong, and that a confidence score is not the same as accuracy.

For tool calls, payments or other consequential steps, the guide says the application should still check permissions and apply its own rules before acting.

OpenAI's Fast Decision Layer Explained: A Hugging Face community guide recommends using bounded questions with finite answer options and keeping permissions and consequential action authority in application code when integrating a decision API; it says confidence scores do not establish accuracy.
