Anthropic has made three Claude Enterprise tools generally available, giving organisations new ways to track usage, manage group spending and gather employee feedback. The most useful detail: smart reports are off by default, and Anthropic says they should not be used to assess individual workers or make employment decisions.
Anthropic Watch analysis
What happened
The three features, which had been in beta since September, are smart reports, pooled budgets and in-app surveys. ZDNET’s account of the changes says smart reports track the tasks employees use Claude for, how often they use them and what they cost. Reports can also flag friction and identify repeated tasks that might be candidates for routine workflows.
Admins can set monthly spending caps for groups as well as individual seats. Users can belong to multiple pooled budgets, which can be ordered by priority. In-app surveys let admins ask employees about Claude use in Chat and view aggregate responses in the Admin console.
Why it matters
Enterprise customers are being offered more than a bill: they can inspect what work Claude is being used for, set group-level spending limits and ask staff directly about their experience. The reporting feature being off by default gives organisations a choice before collecting this usage picture; Anthropic’s warning against using it for individual performance decisions sets an important boundary.
The features also arrive as companies weigh whether enterprise AI spending is paying off. Better visibility could help admins make that judgement, though reports of usage and cost are not, by themselves, proof of business value.
Our read
These are practical admin tools, not a magic ROI calculator. Pooled budgets may help teams manage uneven usage, while the reports and surveys offer more context than a monthly invoice. The sensible move is to decide what should be measured, tell employees how the information will be used and keep individual performance decisions out of the reporting feature, as Anthropic’s documentation advises.
What to watch
- Whether Anthropic publishes more detail on how smart reports measure friction and suggest workflows.
- How organisations use pooled budgets when staff belong to more than one group.
- Whether customers can show that the new visibility changes spending or improves outcomes.
Discussion spark: Should AI usage reports be available to managers by default, or should employees have a say before their work is measured?
