Anthropic has added two beta features to Claude: Dashboards turns data sources into live dashboards from text prompts, while Motion creates animated explainer videos from text and images. The changes give Claude new ways to turn instructions and source material into visual outputs, rather than stopping at a text response.

Anthropic Watch analysis

What happened

The Decoder reports that Dashboards can use data sources including BigQuery and Snowflake to make live dashboards. Motion generates animated explainer videos from text and images. The report also says Docs, Slides and Design are now available across all plans, including free accounts. Read The Decoder’s report.

The report describes the two new features as beta releases. It does not specify their full availability, the limits on data sources, or what controls users have over the resulting dashboards and videos.

Why it matters

Claude is moving further into making things people can use or share: a dashboard built from data, or an animated explanation built from a prompt and images. Those could be handy starting points for analysis and communication, but the practical value depends on details the report does not establish, including how users check the outputs and manage the underlying data.

Making Docs, Slides and Design available on all plans, including free accounts, also broadens access to those tools. It is a meaningful change in who can try them, even if the report does not spell out which capabilities or limits apply to each plan.

Our read

This is a useful expansion of Claude’s toolkit, with the live-data angle in Dashboards especially worth watching. But a convincing-looking chart is not the same thing as a sound analysis, and an animated explainer still needs to explain the right thing. Treat the beta features as tools to test, not a guarantee that the output is ready to trust or publish.

What to watch

  • Which Claude plans can use Dashboards and Motion, and whether beta access is limited.
  • How users connect and manage BigQuery and Snowflake data in Dashboards.
  • What editing, export and review options Motion provides.

Discussion spark: Would you trust a prompt-generated live dashboard as a starting point for decisions, or should these tools be treated as visual drafts until a person checks the data and results?
