ChatGPT can now respond to some prompts with interactive calculators, quizzes and comparisons instead of just a block of text. TechRadar says the new Intelligent UI is available in the standard Chat tab across subscription plans, including Free, putting this change within reach of ordinary users, not just developers.

OpenAI Watch analysis

What happened

TechRadar describes the feature as using GPT-6 to mix text, visuals and interactive elements into answers. In the publication’s tests, ChatGPT made a retirement calculator with adjustable savings and growth assumptions, a hiragana quiz, and a laptop comparison where users could change the importance of battery life, weight and price. It also produced a bike-gearing illustration with a slider, and an itinerary with an adjustable budget after the reviewer asked for that interaction.

The feature does not always appear automatically: TechRadar found that asking for an interactive answer could be necessary. The article also says the bike illustration was simplified, and warns that an attractive-looking response is not a guarantee that its underlying information is right.

Why it matters

This makes a chat answer something people can explore, rather than merely read. Adjusting assumptions or priorities could make explanations and comparisons easier to use, while the examples suggest the interface may adapt to the question without users having to build an app themselves.

There is a practical catch: a polished slider is not a fact-checking service. TechRadar notes that its laptop comparison included an estimated battery-life figure, which a buyer should check against specifications before reaching for a wallet.

Our read

The interesting shift is from asking ChatGPT for an answer to asking it for a small tool to think with. That could be genuinely useful, especially for learning and exploring options. Treat the result as an interactive starting point, though, not as a calculator or product database whose workings have magically become infallible.

What to watch

  • Whether interactive answers appear reliably without users having to request them.
  • How useful the controls are for questions beyond the examples tested by TechRadar.
  • Whether key figures and sources are easy to inspect when an answer looks convincing.

Discussion spark: For choices such as budgeting or buying a laptop, do interactive AI answers help you judge the options, or risk making uncertain information look more trustworthy?
