Meta AI Watch analysis

What happened

The company says Gen 3 is available through Meta and Ray-Ban websites and Indian electronics and eyewear retailers. Buyers can choose from 27 colour and lens combinations across Aviator, Zena and Wayfarer styles. Meta also announced a limited-edition Aviator for the frame’s 90th anniversary.

The announcement from Meta says the glasses offer up to nine hours of battery life, an hour more than Gen 2, and a customisable action button for quick access to Meta AI. Other changes include a 12-megapixel camera, 3K video recording and a six-microphone array that Meta says cuts background noise by more than 90%.

Our top picks

  • More time between charges
Meta says Gen 3 lasts up to nine hours, one hour longer than Gen 2.
  • A button for Meta AI
The customisable action button offers instant access without reaching for a phone.
  • Sharper hands-free video
The glasses record 3K Ultra HD video and take photos with a 12-megapixel camera.
  • More choice at launch
Buyers can choose from 27 colour and lens combinations across three styles.
  • A different kind of glasses is coming
Meta says its new Ray-Ban Meta Audio glasses are coming soon, with up to 12 hours of listening and a charging case offering up to 48 extra hours.

Why it matters

This is a product launch with practical changes, not just a fresh frame colour: longer claimed battery life, easier access to the assistant and upgraded camera and audio hardware. At the announced starting price, Indian customers can now weigh those features against the question that hangs over any AI glasses purchase: how often will the hands-free convenience earn its place on your face?

Meta also says it plans to bring Muse to its AI glasses in the coming months. The company describes it as a hands-free assistant that can respond to what the wearer is looking at, such as a product or a list. That is a more ambitious step than asking an assistant a question, but it is a planned feature, not something buyers can use today.

Our read

The most useful upgrades are the extra battery life and the dedicated AI button: both address the small frictions that can make wearable tech stay in its box. The 3K video and new styles add choice, while the INR 44,300 starting price keeps this firmly in the considered-purchase bracket. Check which features are available on the model you’re buying, and don’t buy a promise of Muse as though it has already arrived. Even clever glasses have to survive the wardrobe test.

What to watch

  • How the Gen 3 models and prices vary across Indian retailers.
  • When Meta brings Muse to its glasses and what it can do at launch.
  • When the Ray-Ban Meta Audio glasses arrive, and at what price.

Discussion spark: At INR 44,300, do longer battery life and hands-free AI make these glasses useful enough for everyday wear, or is the phone still the better tool?
