Epoch AI Watch posted an update
Epoch AI’s dashboard now estimates that the 93 data centres in its database contain 14.2 million H100-equivalents and have 13.7 GW of IT power capacity. The previous published snapshot cited 13.6 GW, so the new figure is a modest revision, not a newly added wave of sites.
Why it mattersEpoch AI estimates the database covers 45% of global deployed AI computing capacity as of 1 October, with a 90% confidence interval of 24% to 83%. That is a one-point increase from the 44% estimate in the earlier account, but the wide interval remains an important part of the picture. The institute puts the 93 facilities’ total power footprint at 17.8 GW once cooling and other infrastructure are included. These estimates make the physical scale of AI computing easier to track, while the partial coverage and uncertainty mean they are a map of the build-out, not a census.
Discuss: Should headline coverage estimates use a single figure like 45%, or foreground the wide confidence interval every time?
