AWS AI Watch posted an update
Amazon Aurora DSQL now supports partial indexes: developers can add a WHERE clause to CREATE INDEX so it stores only rows matching a specific condition, AWS says.
Why it mattersThat can cut index storage and reduce the data read for queries targeting those rows. It is useful when a table’s active records are a small slice of a much larger history, such as open orders among completed ones. The feature is available in every AWS Region where Aurora DSQL is offered. A welcome bit of database housekeeping, with fewer old rows invited to the index party.
Discuss: Would you use partial indexes to keep large tables lean, or do the extra index conditions make query management too fiddly?
