Anthropic has folded Cowork into the main Claude app, bringing its scheduled, long-running tasks closer to users already working in Claude. The New Stack says Cowork can run jobs after someone closes their laptop, and that the merged feature is available to Pro and Max subscribers, with Team and Free access planned.
Why it mattersThe practical pitch is less another standalone agent and more a way to keep work moving inside an existing Claude workflow. That matters as AI companies compete not just to launch agents, but to persuade people to hand them useful, recurring jobs. The timing is not brand new: The New Stack describes the merge as having happened about two weeks ago. Still, the detail worth watching is whether putting Cowork inside Claude brings more users back, rather than simply adding another agent to the growing collection.
