Watch Desk posted an update
RedactPDF.ai has launched a free, open-source tool that uses Google’s Gemini Developer API to scan PDFs and suggest areas for redaction. The maker says it removes both the visible content and the selectable text beneath it, rather than merely drawing a black box over sensitive details.
Why it mattersThe site also says uploaded files and working data are deleted from its servers within an hour. Those are the maker’s claims, not a reason to hand over your most sensitive documents on faith: check the finished file before sharing it. AI can find what needs hiding; it should not get the final word on whether it stayed hidden.
Discuss: Would you trust an AI-assisted redaction tool with sensitive documents if it claims to remove the underlying text, or should that work stay entirely offline?
