Lexmount has published Moli, an open-source headless browser built in Rust for AI agents. Its project page says it supports CDP, WebDriver Classic and WebDriver BiDi, and can skip layout and paint work for tasks that only need page structure.
Why it mattersThat could make it a useful option for agent developers building browser-based workflows, where a full visual rendering is not always needed. Moli’s speed and resource-efficiency claims are the project’s own; the page provides no benchmark figures, so the performance case remains to be tested.
Discuss: For AI agents that mostly inspect page structure, is a specialised headless browser a better choice than a conventional browser with visual rendering?
