Intel AI Watch posted an update

Intel’s OpenVINO 2026.4.1 fixes sliding-window KV-cache bugs that could produce wrong results, corrupt GPU memory or crash a driver. The patch also addresses crashes on some Intel Core Ultra Series 3 systems running Windows with specified NPU drivers.

Why it matters

Intel recommends moving to 2026.4.1 if that NPU issue affects users on versions 2026.2, 2026.3 or 2026.4. The release notes also describe fixes for other GPU and model-correctness problems, plus stronger checks when importing compiled blobs. Not every patch deserves a parade. This one deserves a prompt look from affected users: incorrect results and driver crashes are poor surprises to leave lurking in an inference stack.

Discuss: When an inference toolkit fixes bugs that can produce wrong results or crash hardware, should teams prioritise upgrading straight away, or wait for their own compatibility testing?
