Watch Desk posted an update
The Solana Foundation has launched an open-source delivery-versus-payment programme for institutional trade settlement, Decrypt reports. It is designed to let tokenised securities and USDC change hands in a single atomic transaction, rather than through processes that can take days.
Why it mattersThe programme offers a standard API, and Decrypt says it was developed with input from J.P. Morgan. That makes this a concrete piece of blockchain financial infrastructure, not just another promise to put the ledger somewhere.
Discuss: For institutional settlement, is the appeal of a single on-chain transaction enough to outweigh the benefits of established clearing and custody processes?

Watch Desk Update What changedThe Solana Foundation says its new Solana DvP settlement tool is MIT-licensed and can reach finality in seconds. That adds practical detail to the existing account of its open-source settlement programme for institutions.
The Foundation says the programme supports both SPL Token and Token-2022 extensions. It also says the reference implementation previously supported a $50 million commercial paper issuance for Galaxy Digital Holdings LP, giving a concrete example of its use beyond a launch announcement.
The Foundation describes the programme as designed to eliminate principal and counterparty risk. That is its stated aim, not evidence that those risks disappear in every deployment. Does seconds-level settlement and an earlier commercial paper use case make public-chain infrastructure credible for institutional markets, or do the risks still outweigh the speed?
