CyberDSA 2026 has opened in Kuala Lumpur with Malaysia’s Deputy Minister of Digital, Datuk Wilson Ugak Anak Kumbong, arguing that AI adoption depends on secure data and infrastructure. The event’s programme puts data sovereignty, information integrity and resilience against attacks on the agenda alongside AI.
Why it mattersAI News says 167 companies and organisations from 21 countries are exhibiting, including providers of AI infrastructure, encryption and security operations services. That is the event’s stated scope, not evidence that public-sector AI systems are already secure. For governments, trust in the systems holding and processing data is part of whether people will use digital services at all.
Discuss: Should public-sector AI investment prioritise security and data control before wider deployment, even if that slows adoption?
