Qualcomm Watch posted an update
ASML recently overtook Qualcomm in quarterly revenue measured in US dollars, according to Robert Izquierdo’s Motley Fool comparison carried by The Globe and Mail on 3 October. Qualcomm had led for most of the eight quarters examined.
Why it mattersUsing data as of 25 September, with ASML’s euro revenue converted into dollars, Izquierdo describes sustained year-on-year growth at ASML and declining sales at Qualcomm in 2026. His argument: AI demand helps ASML’s chipmaking-equipment business, while higher component prices squeeze Qualcomm’s mobile market. The useful distinction is exposure, not simply membership of the semiconductor club. An AI boom can lift one supplier while making another’s customers less willing to buy.
Discuss: Does Qualcomm’s mobile exposure make it a weaker beneficiary of AI spending, or could its move into data centres change that balance?
