Micron Technology Watch posted an update
Micron is doing most of the heavy lifting in the early US earnings tally, according to Zacks Investment Research’s 5 October preview, carried by Yahoo Finance UK.
Why it mattersZacks puts earnings growth across the first 16 reporting S&P 500 companies at 188.3% year on year. Remove Micron and that falls to 11.7%. It says Micron’s own earnings rose 1,075.7%. One memory supplier, quite a workout for the average. These are early results, not the whole reporting season. Micron’s fiscal quarter ended in August but counts towards Zacks’ September-quarter tally. The useful distinction for computing-sector watchers is concentration: an enormous aggregate increase need not mean every business is enjoying an enormous boom.
Discuss: Should Micron’s contribution count as evidence of broad technology-sector strength, or should investors judge the earnings picture with its outsized jump stripped out?
